Scotch 80s
Scotch 80s Homes for Sale | Historic Las Vegas Estates
Scotch 80s is one of Las Vegas’ most iconic historic neighborhoods, known for its custom estates, large lots, mature trees, and unmistakable Old Vegas character. Located near Rancho Drive and Charleston Boulevard in central Las Vegas, the neighborhood feels remarkably removed from the city around it while remaining just minutes from Downtown Las Vegas and the Strip.
Developed largely during Las Vegas’ mid-century growth, Scotch 80s became one of the city’s premier residential addresses. Instead of the repetition found in newer master-planned communities, its streets are filled with individually designed homes, including sprawling ranch houses, mid-century modern residences, and distinctive custom estates.
The homes are only part of what makes the neighborhood special. Large homesites, mature landscaping, private pools, circular drives, porte cocheres, exposed beams, and decades-old trees give Scotch 80s an established character that’s nearly impossible to recreate in a new development. Original vintage homes now sit alongside extensively renovated properties and newer custom builds, making the neighborhood an interesting mix of old and new Las Vegas.
Scotch 80s also has deep ties to Las Vegas history. Over the years, the neighborhood has attracted casino executives, entertainers, business leaders, and some of the city’s best-known residents. Former Las Vegas Mayor Oscar Goodman and former Mayor Carolyn Goodman lived here, and the neighborhood has also been associated with names including Jerry Lewis, Howard Hughes, Steve Wynn, and Brandon Flowers of The Killers. That history is a big part of why Scotch 80s still feels connected to an earlier era of Las Vegas.
What really sets Scotch 80s apart today is how much individuality remains. One property might be an original mid-century ranch while the next is a dramatically renovated estate or contemporary custom home. For buyers looking for luxury homes in Las Vegas with architecture, land, history, and actual personality, there aren’t many neighborhoods quite like it.
